Context
GIRBAU SMART SHELF was a smart-shelf prototype for Girbau, developed in the context of Maccion. RFID technology provided a way to approach the identification of physical items in an industrial application. The case is relevant because it connects technology with a material environment.
My role
I contributed during a four-month internship at Maccion. My role was to help with the prototype during a short period of applied learning, working on a solution connected to a concrete industrial need.
What I did
- Contributed to work on the smart-shelf prototype for Girbau, within the Maccion team and the scope of my internship.
- Worked with an industrial application of RFID, where technical identification had to relate to physical items.
- Gained experience of a solution through a concrete prototype, where the context of use mattered as much as the technology itself.

Outcome and learning
